For the next few weeks, scores of sporting venues and hotels in London and throughout the UK will be particularly reliant on their Agilysys technology to streamline operations, improve efficiency and enhance guest service as they cope with the increased business generated by the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

More than 1,000 point-of-sale terminals in food outlets and concessions throughout London and the surrounding area will be using Agilysys InfoGenesis™ POS software during the international athletic events.

The NEC Group, a Birmingham-based venue management company, recently selected Agilysys as its point-of-sale solutions provider. The NEC Group operates four world-class venues: the National Exhibition Centre, the International Convention Centre, LG Arena and the National Indoor Arena. It also operates a national ticketing agency, The Ticket Factory, and award-winning prestige caterer Amadeus, premium caterers at events and venues across the UK including the Scottish Open and RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.

Other venues using Agilysys point-of-sale technology include:

  • ExCeL London, which is hosting boxing, fencing, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting and wrestling
  • Lord's Cricket Ground, hosting archery
  • North Greenwich Arena,  hosting basketball, gymnastics and trampolining
  • Old Trafford Stadium, hosting football

Many of these venues are deploying Agilysys contactless payment options, which can reduce operational costs, boost profit margins and improve the guest experience.

In addition, hoteliers are relying on Agilysys software systems to ensure smooth delivery of services. The company's solutions for property management, point-of-sale, inventory & procurement and document management are found in large hotels, up-market business & leisure resorts and boutique properties in London and throughout the UK. These solutions will enable large numbers of guests to check in and check out quickly and efficiently.

"As the world looks to the United Kingdom over the next few weeks, we’re proud of our role in helping venues deliver superior service," said Adrian Burns, Vice President and General Manager - EMEA at Agilysys.
